Description
This Volta Pile Apparatus is a fully functioning replica of Alessandro Volta's apparatus.
The item is approximately 178mm (7") tall including the base. The base is a 89mm (3.5") square with a height of 25mm (1.5").
25mm (1.5") zinc and copper plates are stacked in alternation and are separated by a sheet of felt soaked in an electrolyte. The electrolyte allows electricity to pass between layers, allowing the voltage to be measured between the plates and at ends.
The cable on the base is 146mm (5.75") long and reaches the top of the item.
