Virgin v Recycled Paper

The debate on recycled paper versus virgin fibres can generate opposing and strongly held views. In my view as long as the virgin white sheet is FSC certified then both types of paper are environmentally responsible. Recycled papers are made from "post consumer waste" which of course means that it is made from fibre that has been previously harvested so couldn't really exist without the virgin material in the 1st place. At HOS we ensure that our white virgin paper is procured from well-managed forests and should be viewed as a crop, in the same way that a farmer views their fields. The biggest difference being the timelines of course. But there are many advantages to a well managed forest - it helps flora and fauna to flourish and added to this is the benefit to carbon capture as the forest re-grows. On the other hand recycled paper uses way less chemicals and much less water to produce. In other words recycled & virgin papers are resources that compliment each other and are not at odds with each other. BUT WAIT There is now a new product which is the best of both worlds - Ledesma Nat Sugar cane paper. 100% sugar cane, 0% tree fibre, 0% bleaching chemicals and is infinitely renewable. And sugar cane grows back every 12 months so this is the paper that really is the best of both worlds - Want to know more just drop me an email graham@hosltd.net - Thanks for reading
