Description

The Vibration Generator gives mechanical oscillations when fed by signals from an oscillator/A.F. amplifier (e.g. a Power Signal Generator - B8G85793).

The frequency response encompasses the whole of the audio spectrum and beyond. Electrical input is made via two 4mm sockets and the mechanical output is provided by a shaft terminating in a pair of clamping nuts. The locking slider feature allows the generator arm to be fixed to prevent damage. The Vibration Generator can be used in any position, free standing or clamped.

Technical Specifications:

  • Maximum peak to peak displacement: 8mm at 1Hz, decreasing with increase in frequency.
  • Total frequency range: D.C. to 10kHz.
  • Coil impedance: 3.5Ω at 50Hz
  • Maximum Carrying Load: 150g
  • Dimensions: (W)100mm x (D)90mm x (H)95mm

The Vibration Generator can demonstrate the behaviour of the following:

  • Transverse Waves
  • Longitudinal Waves

Requires the following equipment to operate:

  • Power Signal Generator - B8G85793 (or similar)
  • 4mm Leads (2 required) - B8R05705
  • A length of string

It can alternatively be driven using a Bench Signal Generator (B8G85779) & Power Amplifier (B8R07696) in the absence of a Power Signal Generator.

A Vibration Generator Accessory Kit is available separately (B8H30920) and also as a Vibration Generator Kit (B8R06826) which includes the Vibration Generator. The accessory kit contains a multitude of accessories for use with the Vibration Generator to demonstrate transverse, longitudinal, standing and 2-Dimensional waves.
