Things to consider before you purchase

1. The first thing that must be considered is the robustness of the desk. The desk will be in a busy classroom and needs to be fit for purpose, purchasing the cheapest option is not always necessarily the best course of action. With this in mind you need to decide if the desk is going to have to be moved a number of times in the classroom or will it remain in one spot. There is basically two options available. If the desk is likely to remain stationary and has an allocated position then purchasing a sturdy standard desk will in most cases provided the perfect solution. We recommend the desks listed at the bottom of this page. These are tried and tested desks with a sturdy 25mm thick top and strong double cantilevered legs. If it is likely that the teachers desk could be moved on a regular basis then purchasing a fully welded desk would be more suitable. These are available in a wide range of colours and we use the manufacturer Metalliform and these are made to match the classroom tables range
2. The second thing to consider is the colour of the desk so that it fits with the aesthetics (needed spell check for that one) of the classroom. Standard desking (images below) can be purchased in beech, oak, white, walnut and grey oak. With a choice of leg colours you can easily find a suitable product for your classroom
3. The next think to consider is the size of desk you require. This will ultimately depend on what space you have in the classroom but with desks as small as 800x600mm going up to 1800x800mm you will be able to find a desk that is suitable for the space you have
4. When you have decided what type of desk you need, what colour and what size you need to ensure you have ordered a desk that is big enough for your needs. What you don't want to do is order a desk that turns out to be too small. You need to consider having a laptop or tablet on the desk, numerouse exercise books, worksheets etc etc. Just make sure the desk is big enough before you order
5. Last thing to think about is the word modesty. All our desks have a modesty panel to ensure privacy below the workspace. Just double check before you decided as some desks particularly at the cheaper end of the scale don't have one

In summary a teachers desk is an important piece of furniture for any classroom. Just ensure you do your homework (pardon the pun) to ensure you purchase a desk that is fit for purpose
